1. Connect the iPod to your PC using a USB wire.
2. Enable your iPod for disk use.
3. Go to "My Computer" and select your iPod.
4. Select tools and the folder option.
5. Select the "view" tab on top.
6. Make sure you select "Show hidden files and folders".
7. Search for the file (file name differs in earlier versions) but on all models it will be located in the "Ipod_Control" folder aka Settings and find a file named "_locked".
8. Then change the file name "_locked" to "_unlocked".
